A tale of a near death experience to kick off the album! – bathed in a sea of layers of nylon strings and noise generators, Pet Sounds-influenced vocal harmonies, and a small chamber orchestra of harp, cello and violin. Quite a diverse palette of influences informed this opener, including the classic songwriting of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, the ‘folk-tronica’ of acts like Lowly and Four Tet, and the film scores of Jonny Greenwood – specifically, the Phantom Thread OST.
lyrics
Fill my lungs
Turned to face the sun
Still my sullen tongue
Soak in, soak in, soak in
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me
See all colours
Live like new lovers
Like there are no others
Soak in, soak in, soak in
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me
Say I’m alive
Not in a dream
Feels like the first day of my life
We’ll never learn
Never change our ways
Feels like the first day of my life
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me

The sound of “NOW! 2073” is also the sound of 1983: laser-like minimalist electropop that flirts with coldwave and dance music. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 4, 2021

There’s a mighty cinematic sweep in the songs on the latest from Badlands, the big and imposing orchestration with dreamlike vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 27, 2022
